On The Ricki Lake Show!

January 11, 2013

Early last month, I flew down to LA to appear on The Ricki Lake Show. I had no idea who else was going to be on the show with me. All I knew was that I’d be representing the beauty category on YouTube. I was so excited the morning of the appearance that I woke up with a nose bleed! Haha The show offered to have someone come in and do my hair and makeup in the morning but I insisted that I do my own hair and makeup. For the simple reason that almost every time I’ve had someone else do my makeup, I’ve regretted it! But, that’s another story for another time.

So, at the show I had my own dressing room. My suitcase came along with me because I would have to catch my flight back home as soon as I finished the show! The producers had brought in a vanity table for me to do my makeup at since they knew I’d be doing it on my own which I really appreciated.

In between stuffing my face with candy corn and Starbursts, I took about a couple dozen photos with my phone for a) instagram purposes and b) to check how my makeup looked on camera. Since my outfit was black and white, I chose to go with a berry red lip to keep my face from looking washed out. And of course, lots of lashes. The dress I wore is from ASOS, shoes are ridiculously overpriced and uncomfortable Louboutins that I love to death regardless, and a $5 Batman ring I got on eBay.

The best part of the entire experience was getting to meet Michael Buckley! I didn’t know he was going to be on the show until I saw his name on one of the doors when I got to the studio. He was so friendly and had so much good energy! I wished I could have stayed to chat with everyone after the show but literally the second the cameras went off I had to run off the stage and rush back to the airport to catch my flight. Random fact about me: I’m notorious for missing flights! I’ve missed about 3 or 4 in the past year!

Thank you so much to everyone over at The Ricki Lake Show for having me!
