This past Fashion Week, I attended the #CoutureOverdose event hosted by SheKnows to celebrate the launch of Juicy Couture’s latest fragrance, Viva la Juicy Gold Couture at NYC’S Gold Bar. Needless to say, this event was all about going for the gold and it got me thinking about how gold is an often overlooked staple in a woman’s wardrobe. Metallics, especially golds, are the new neutrals as far as I’m concerned.
It was the pointy-toed gold pumps on the woman next to me that got me thinking about the potential of gold as a luxe alternative to basic beige.
Everywhere I turned, there was gorgeous golden inspiration to capture my attention. The walls were dressed in gilded skulls that I wish I could recreate in my own home, if only to serve as a backdrop to countless future selfies!
Pick your poison: Juicy Crush or Couture Overdose?
For one of my recent tutorials, I styled myself with some mindlessly stacked dainty gold rings as a subtle way to add a bit of edge to my outfit.
Or you can always go all out with a large statement piece! This is one of my favorites by Rachel Zoe. While gold can toughen up an all-black ensemble, it looks especially glamorous against a softer color palette.

Head-to-toe gold may not be as practical, but adding some metallic accent pieces to your wardrobe can really elevate your look and make that LBD you’ve worn to death feel brand new! Instead of a nude shoe, gold can often give you the same lengthening effect with a little something extra. Got a great manicure? Take a gold clutch out with you for the evening to give your hands something fabulous to hold onto. Got a great tan? Throw on a gold necklace, or if you’re daring, an arm cuff!
