So, if you follow me on Twitter [www.twitter.com/jessicaharlow] you already know that my computer seems to have been attacked by some vicious virus. I stayed up all night last night recording this look only to not be able to edit it on my computer. It was just going ridiculously slow and freezing continuously .. Long story short — I salvaged some photos and decided to do a little article tutorial for you guys! I hope you enjoy it!

FLAWLESS FACE: The first thing you want to do when recreating any sort of doll look is to make your skin really flawless. If you have fair skin, you can choose to use a shade or two lighter for your foundation. What I did, since I already am the lightest shade — is mix in some of Illamasqua’s Rich Liquid Foundation in RF 105 [Which is basically a white] in with Illamasqua’s Rich Liquid Foundation in RF 130 [The lightest shade that matches me perfectly. RF 120 is NOT the lightest shade.] I applied it all over and since I wanted to apply freckles later, I didn’t want my beauty marks to stand in the way, I layered on extra foundation to cover them up.

* If you chose that you want your eye brows to look drawn on, like a real doll’s, I recommend covering them with a glue stick or spirit gum and then applying foundation over them. This will give the illusion that you do not have any brows and therefore allow you to either draw on brows higher or lower or in an all together different style. I covered my brows using the glue stick method [search YouTube from Petrilude's tutorial on this. It is fantastic!] and then drew on little hairs like how I have seen them drawn on some dolls using brown eye liner.

DOLL EYES: The goal here is to make the eyes look larger and rounded. Apply an eye shadow primer all over the lids to help prevent your shadows from creasing — I used Urban Decay’s Primer Potion. Here’s a tip for those who want to make their colored eye shadows pop — use a creamy white base. I used NYX Jumbo Pencil in “Milk” all over my lids in an upside down “U” shape. I used my finger to blend out the edges.

I wanted my lids to look larger and rounded like a dolls so I applied my eye shadow — a bright matte baby blue — in an upside down “U” shape going up past my crease. I then penciled in a crease where I wanted using a black eye liner and smudged it upwards with a little pencil brush. I used a pencil so that I could get a very crisp line.

Now for the highlight, I took a fluffy brush and some matte white eye shadow and used it to blend out that smudged liner I used to draw in a crease. With a flat brush, I patted on some of that white onto the center of my lids and around my tear duct.

I lined my eyes in a rounded shape. To do this, you want to follow the natural shape of your eye but make the liner thicker in the middle of the eye. This will give the illusion of a rounded doe-eyed shape. I also did a little wing at the outer corner but this is optional.

Line your inner rims with a white pencil to make them look more open and awake. When it comes to the lashes, anything goes. I used very long wispy lashes by Elite [#19] along the top. To balance the eyes out, I applied false lashes to my lower lashline as well. [Red Cherry #33; You can find them at mscuppycakes.com].

CHEEKIES: I took a blush brush and applied a generous amount of bright pink blush to the apples of my cheeks, in a generally rounded shape. I buffed out the edges with a kabuki brush but any fluffier brush dipped in some powder will work. Then, I took a brow pencil and drew on dots for freckles. I prefer to use brow pencils or even lip liners to draw on freckles since they tend to have a hint of red in them much like real freckles do.

POUT: I “erased” my lips using concealer and applied a pink lipstick to the center, almost like drawing a new lip within your own lips.

So there you have it! My doll look for Halloween! Have a happy one!
